Sounds Like Music Summer Art Camp

  • Octagon Center for the Arts 427 Douglas Ave Ames, IA, 50010 United States

How do artists get inspired to make art while listening to different kinds of music? How do musicians get inspired to compose a song or poem by looking at art? Artists such as Romare Bearden listened to jazz while writing his poem, "I Live in Music", as well as when creating his colorful collage masterpieces. Your child will be exposed to music with historic and contemporary references, and to distinctive and diverse music from around the world. Each day campers will create unique and semi-functional instruments, paint and draw, design and build in an environment of unusual and familiar sounds. This camp lasts until Thursday, July 2, and pre-registration is required by June 24. For more information, please visit their website.
